Ocean Salt Review

Ocean Salt was one of Lush's products I really wanted to try out. The salt can be kind of harsh on my face so I wet my face first to help dissolve some the salt before I start scrubbing. Ocean Salt is a pretty creamy blue and smells really nice. According to the website, "We make this best-selling scrub out of fine and coarse sea salt to give your skin a fresh glow like you've just spent a week at the beach" and I agree. My skin is pretty glowy after using it and it makes my face feel nice but it hasn't done anything for my dry patches or pimples. I'm not sure if its supposed to help pimples but I figured it would clear up my dry patches. I have been using this about 3-4 times a week.
Main ingredients:
  • grapefruit infusion
  • lime oil
  • avocado butter
  • coconut fat
  • coarse and fine sea salt
  • vodka

I'm still using it on my face in hopes of it clearing up my dry patches soon. I also used Ocean Salt on my legs before I shave. It makes my skin super smooth!

Make your bubble bars last longer :)

A cool trick for bubble bars to make them last longer!!! I bought this tea strainer off of amazon.com for $2 plus $2 shipping (link at the end of this post). All you do is break off a small chunk of your bubble bar and place it in the strainer, close it up and hold it under the running water. This creates the bubbles without having to crumble it (which leads to a lot of waste since the water "throws" the small pieces sometimes before you have a chance to crumble them.) This has worked pretty nicely...I am able to stretch the Candy Cane bubble bar into 5 baths instead of 2 or 3.

The Ex Factor

I used half of the Ex Factor bath bomb in bath today. It turned the water a nice blue color and smelled really good. The water did not feel as moisturizing as the water does when using Butterball. I was kind of disappointed in that... I think that is due to the fact that the Ex Factor does not have the bits of cocoa butter in it like Butterball does. I bought 3 of these because I heard that it was so much like Butterball (which I love!!!) Overall, I feel like this is a good one to use when cock-tailing since the scent is fairly neutral.

Lush UK Customer Service

As I wrote in my UK haul post, I was disappointed in the fact that I was not sent samples or the Lush Times. I wrote an email to the UK customer service and basically, told them that I would have liked to receive the facial/lotion samples to test out because of my sensitive skin (as I explained in the comments section when I ordered). I also told them that I was not sent the Lush Times (I also asked for this in the comments section as well) and I thought I would at least get even if I didn't get samples. I explained that I know as customers we are not entitled to samples but that I think samples of facial products are very important because of how each product will react differently depending on skin types. The lady who responded was amazingly nice and said that she was sorry for the mix up. She then said to send her a list of the items I would like to sample and she would send the samples and the Lush Times to me for no charge! How awesome is that??? Lush UK seems to be the way to go when ordering online!! I'm so happy about this!

Foot Baths

Tonight, I used a small piece of Sex Bomb in a foot bath. It was great! It smelled really good, turned the water a pretty pink and was pretty moisturizing. Once I was done, I followed up with shimmy shimmy massage bar (my only massage bar right now) and my sample of Charity Pot lotion. Then I slipped socks on and my foot feel awesome! My little brother (almost 7 yrs.) found out what I did and he wanted one too. So I used only the head of the Ex Factor in his and it turned his water blue. He really liked that part.

First Lush UK haul

I was hoping to hold out on buying anything from Lush until the Valentin'es items went on sale. Little did I know, they don't...Christmas time is THE only time of year they do that sale. So I went ahead and ordered from the UK.

3 Ex factor bath bombs
2 Magic Mushroom bubble bars
1 Ma bar bubble bar

I asked for samples of face products so that I could try them because my skin tends to be on the sensitive side, I also asked for a copy of the Lush times. I DID NOT recieve anything but my purchased items :( I know that with samples its hit or miss but they couldn't even send me a Lush times???? not too happy...

Alkmaar soap review

I finally got around to trying this soap out today. I'm not a huge fan of the smell when it's dry, but the smell gets better in the shower. This is a creamy soap that lathers really well, the best out of the soaps I have tried so far. The scent lingers on skin, which I think is a good thing! This is my second favorite soap so far (porridge is first!).

My boxing day sale haul

I got 3 Secret Santa gift sets, the first picture shows what was inside but I forgot to add the 15% off coupon that came with it. Each Secret Santa gift set had a Satsumo Santa bath bomb and star shaped Snowcake soap in it.
Bubble bars: 2 Frothy the Snowman's, they smell like coconut!!! and 1 Green Green Bath of Foam.
Bath bombs: 4 Cinders (they supposedly crackle in the bath water), I was only planning on ordering the 1 to get 2 free but I wanted an extra to give to the little girl I babysit for when she gets her tonsils taken out...and I also got 2 lil Lush puds (these smell very spicy).
Samples: Gingerman and Banana Moon soaps.
Soap: The Godmother.
Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase but I wish I had ordered more. I was afraid I wouldn't like them so I didn't but so far I love the scents but I'm not sure how I'll like them in the bath yet, haven't tried them. It seems like with Lush stuff, I'm not sure about the smells but then they grow on me and I eventually love them!

Alkmaar soap

I recently got the Alkmaar soap I won on Ebay. I love the color to it, it's a very creamy color and on the sides it is two-toned. I can't say that I'm a big fan of the scent. I thought I would be....the site says it smells of jasmine and honeysuckle. I have never smelled the two scents together but I like them individually. Even though I'm not a huge fan of the scent, it might grow on me like Porridge did. This soap has a very creamy lather. I think it's a unisex soap, it's not fruity or flowery smelling and it isn't a crazy girly color.

Ebay!

Today I won an auction for a new, sealed peice of Alkmarr soap. The price on the soap is $16.17 and I paid $9 + $2 shipping!!! Yay :) In another auction, I won the 3.5 oz. size of ring around the roses buttercream and 3.5 oz. of Rockstar soap. I got them both together for $10.25 including shipping...if I bought them off the UK site I would have paid $10 but had to pay the pricey shipping. If I got them off the USA site it would have cost me $15.90 plus shipping. Very excited to try out these items, I've heard a lot of good things about them!

My 1st online Lush purchase

The Lush USA site had a promotion were if you bought a holiday item, you get two for free. This promotion went quickly and they barely had anything left. Randomly, I checked the site again and they had added a few more items.

Items I paid for:
  • Secret Santa gift set (includes Satsumo Santa bath bomb and the star shaped Snowcake soap) $9.95
  • 2 Cinders bath bomb $3.95
  • Green Green bath of foam bubble bar $5.95
Free items:
  • 2 Secret Santa gift sets
  • 2 lil lush pud bath bombs
  • 2 Frothy the snowman bubble bars
  • 2 Cinders

I also bought The Godmother soap to try for $5.95. My total came to $29.75 after my discount of $4.46 (15% off coupon from my Stardust gift set). After shipping costs, my total came to $36.70 for all of this stuff! Such a great deal. My order has not arrived yet but once it does I'll post about it.

Review: Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly

First of all, for those of you who do not know how to use a shower jelly, you can use it a few different ways. You can lather it up in your hands (kind of tricky I think, it's very slippery), use a loofah or use exfoliating gloves. This shower jelly smells very berry to me. The site says it's a blackcurrant smell or a cherry soda smell. The jelly base is made up of seaweed and has little specks of glitter in it. The glitter doesn't stick to your skin. This item give you a lot of value for your money. You only have to use a small amount to get a nice rich lather, especially if using a loofah. For the loofah, you basically take a small piece and crush it into it. It takes a minute but the lather will really start to appear. This shower jelly is $13 on the site for a 7 ounce piece. It can be stored out of the fridge, in the fridge or in the freezer. I've heard that during the summer a lot of people store in the freezer so there is a cooling effect in the shower. A tip is to take out the chunk of shower jelly before getting in the shower so that you don't get the whole product wet. Getting the whole product wet can lead to bacteria growth...not a good thing.

Smells like: You Snap the Whip

Review: Porridge Soap

I paid $10.45 for my chunk of Porridge but online they sell them for $5.95 (3.5 oz). This soap is one of their least expensive ones. The smell is very strong at first, I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. But after trying it out a few times, I fell in love with the scent. It' s a sweet smell that reminds you of something you would eat for breakfast. There are real oats in the soap that are great for a mild scrub. The smell only lingers for a little while but I like to use a cocoa butter based lotion after using the soap and the smell combination is great! It seems to last a little longer when I do this. Porridge soap is more oats then soap I think! But that's okay. The more you use the soap, the more oats appear. This one is definitely worth the money!

Storage: I sliced my bar into 9 smaller slices and put them all together in an air tight container. I used the 3 different-sized set of containers from the Target $1 Spot. One usually lasts me 4-6 showers.

My 1st in-store Lush experience

I stumbled onto some Lush videos and became very interested. I really wanted to try these products that everyone was raving about. So I located a Lush near me and decided to go. My Lush store had two promotions going on...the first was a free gift with a donation of new/used clothing for Haiti. The second one was a free Christmas gift set with a purchase of $5o or more. I took advantage of both promotions that day. Here is what I got:

For my donation, I received samples of Karma soap, Helping Hands hand cream, and Charity Pot lotion. The samples I received were pretty small but I noticed that a little goes a long way with the hand cream. I caught my store off guard with my donation because they didn't think anyone knew about it and they did not have a gift set aside for it. Now, they are offering a free fresh face mask! :( makes me sad...

For my $50 purchase:
  • butterball and sex bomb bath bombs
  • a nice size chunk of porridge soap
  • shimmy shimmy massage bar
  • sweetie pie shower jelly
  • new shampoo bar

my total came to $47 before tax, $50.83 after tax. I thought it was cool that I did not have to spend $50 before tax like most places do.

My FREE Christmas gift set (worth $50) included:

  • the gold star shape chunk of angel's delight soap
  • star melt bath melt
  • candy cane bubble bar
  • 3.3 oz bottle of snow fairy shower gel
  • snow fairy solid perfume
  • double fast luck emotibomb
  • fairy tail sugar scrub

I am going to review each of these items as I use them!
